BUILDING BLOCKS - ABA Playgroup
We are offering a safe and supportive environment for families with children on the Autistic spectrum (ASD) to meet together and assist young children's development through play.
The play group uses techniques from Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), a therapeutic approach used with individuals diagnosed with ASD. It emphasises creating the best learning environment for each individual child. However, no prior experience or knowledge of ABA is needed. Our experienced staff will guide children through a schedule of ABA-based activities including structured play, group games, and individualised instruction.
Through hands-on involvement during the play group activities, parents will learn how they can personally help their child acquire important communication and social skills. At the end of each session, the Building Blocks staff will engage all the children in free play so that parents can have some time to have a cuppa and chat.
Building Blocks is a 10 week programme that meets from 12:30 to 2:30pm every Friday at the Grey Lynn Community Centre.
Term One 2010 dates are Friday 12th February - Friday 23rd AprilIt is open to any preschoolers (up to the age of 5) and will cost $15 per session.
Numbers are limited, so please email us info@autismhouse.org.nz
